Bowling Association Donates Funds, Blankets to Cancer Center

The Somerset-Hunterdon Women’s Bowling Association recently donated $700 from their recent bowling fundraiser to Somerset Medical Center Foundation along with handmade lap quilts, knit blankets and hats for patients undergoing treatment at the medical center’s Steeplechase Cancer Center.

Nancy Vurckio, first vice-president; Barbara Perrine, president; Francine Savas, director; and Barbara Roberts, director, recently presented their donations to Dr. Kathleen Toomey, medical director of The Steeplechase Cancer Center at Somerset Medical Center, Paul Huegel, president of Somerset Medical Center Foundation, and Katrina Losa, director of The Steeplechase Cancer Center at Somerset Medical Center.

The Steeplechase Cancer Center, which opened in 2007, is a $28 million outpatient facility, housing the Sanofi-aventis U.S. Breast Care Program, radiation oncology services, infusion therapy, oncologists’ offices, the medical center’s clinical research team, complementary medicine services and the Sanofi-aventis U.S. Wellness Boutique.
