Cigna Agreement Reached
December 9, 2010
After more than a year of negotiations, Somerset Medical Center has reached a new three year agreement with CIGNA effective Jan. 1, 2011.
“We are pleased to have reached this agreement with CIGNA and are happy to welcome back all of our CIGNA patients,” said Ken Bateman, president and chief executive officer of Somerset Medical Center. “We apologize for the inconveniences experienced by CIGNA members and physicians over the past year and thank them for their patience and understanding as we worked to come to an agreement that was fair to both parties.”
CIGNA members will be able to access Somerset Medical Center at their “In-network” level of benefits for elective services as of January 1, 2011. CIGNA members requiring emergency care prior to January 1, should be covered by CIGNA in accordance with federal and state laws, with patients paying their standard Emergency Department co-pays. Patients with questions about their coverage should call Somerset Medical Center’s Managed Care Department at 908-203-6211.
