Flu Prevention Efforts Ensure Patient Safety

December 21, 2010
During flu season, Somerset Medical Center is taking extra steps to ensure your safety while in our care.

We have offered free flu shots to our staff and physicians and have strongly encouraged them to get vaccinated to prevent spreading the flu.

Any staff member who has not had a flu shot or who is allergic to the flu shot must wear a protective mask while in patient care areas during flu season.

Employees who are experiencing symptoms of the flu will be asked to go home and will only be able to return to work when they are symptom-free. We also ask anyone who is sick not to visit patients in the medical center to avoid spreading the flu virus to their loved ones.
