New Board Chairman Announced

James Heston, a retired executive vice-president of institutional business at MetLife, has been appointed chairman of Somerset Medical Center’s Board of Trustees.
Heston, of Metuchen, holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Gettysburg College and a master’s degree in business policy from Columbia University. After working for MetLife for 39 years, Heston retired in 2009. During his last year, Heston lead a team that developed Met Life’s strategic positioning to address health care issues arising from turbulent marketplace conditions as well as key components of various reform proposals from Washington.
Heston has been a member of the board of trustees at Somerset Medical Center since 1992. He has chaired its human resources committee for more than 10 years. In 2009, Heston joined the board or trustees of the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick and the Alumni Board of Gettysburg College. Prior to retirement, he was also a member of the Personnel Round Table, an invitation-based organization of 55 Chief Human Resource Officers, from primarily Fortune 100 companies.
