Somerset Medical Center and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital have launched a new microsite, http://smc.rwjuh.info, as part of an ongoing effort to provide employees, physicians, community members and patients with the most up-to-date information on their pending merger. The microsite highlights merger milestones, provides answers to frequently asked questions and offers insight on what the merger means for patients and employees. It also includes an overview of each organization and their recent accomplishments.
“Throughout this merger process, we want to be as open and transparent as possible so that our community can learn more about each of our organizations and know what to expect each step of the way,” said Stephen K. Jones, president and CEO of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Robert Wood Johnson Health System.
“It is our hope that this microsite will serve as a clearinghouse of information for the community and provide clarity on key issues and concerns, while delivering updates on our progress in completing our merger with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital,” said Ken Bateman, CPA, MHA, President and Chief Executive Officer at Somerset Medical Center.
Somerset Medical Center announced in June that it planned to merge with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. A merger agreement was officially signed in August and submitted to the New Jersey Attorney General’s office for review. The agreement is expected to be finalized this spring. A transition team comprised of members of both hospitals has been meeting since last fall to plan for the integration of the two facilities.
