Saks Fifth Avenue Supports Cancer Center
March 25, 2010
Saks Fifth Avenue Short Hills’s KEY TO THE CURE charity shopping weekend in October raised $15,233 for The Steeplechase Cancer Center at Somerset Medical Center. Gary Blender, vice president and general manager of Saks Fifth Avenue Short Hills, recently presented a check to Paul Huegel, president of Somerset Medical Center Foundation, and Yvette Shangold, a Somerset Medical Center event volunteer.
Saks Fifth Avenue’s KEY TO THE CURE takes place annually at Saks stores nationwide, all Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH stores and saks.com to raise money and awareness for women’s cancers. In 2009, Saks donated 2% of sales up to $250,000 from the shopping weekend to local and national women's cancer organizations and research centers. In Short Hills, The Steeplechase Cancer Center was the benefiting charity.
The Steeplechase Cancer Center, which opened in 2007, is a $28 million outpatient facility housing the Sanofi-aventis U.S. Breast Care Program, radiation oncology services, infusion therapy, oncologists’ offices, the Sanofi-aventis U.S. Wellness Boutique, nutritional counseling, a clinical research program, complementary medicine services and a cancer resource library.
